Guereo is located on Senegal’s Petite Côte, approximately just 30km from airport or 20 minutes by car. This area is surrounded by the beach, lagoon and nature reserve. The coastline in Guereo is less developed than Saly, offering wide sandy stretches and natural rock formations.
Our lodge is within walking distance to the Guereo village, which has an active fishing and agricultural community. The local markets provide direct access to seasonal produce and daily catches.
A Living Environment
The Somone Lagoon (Reserve Naturelle de la Somone)
Just 15 mins walk will lead you to the edge of the mangrove. This 700-hectare protected area is a primary habitat for over 150 bird species, including flamingos, pelicans, herons, egrets. You can access this thriving natural world of migratory birds, crabs, oysters, fish, and lush mangroves on foot, by kayak, local pirogues (traditional boats), or with a guided nature walk — always with respect for the delicate balance of the ecosystem.
Bandia Wildlife Reserve
Located about 20 minutes by car from our lodge, this 3,500-hectare park offers a unique safari experience, where you can have the chance to see giraffes, rhinos, zebras, buffalos, and several species of antelope (oryx, eland, and impala).
Popenguine Nature Reserve and Cliffs
A 15-minute drive north leads to Popenguine, a site known for its unique geography and religious significance. The reserve features marked trails along limestone cliffs overlooking the Atlantic. The village is home to the Basilica of Our Lady of Deliverance, a major pilgrimage site for West African Catholics.
